Bowling Tournament Rules

  1. Any USA (50 states only) Adult League that follows standard American Ten Pin rules qualify. Both USBC Certified AND Non-USBC Certified Bowling Leagues qualify.
    1. You MUST be 18 years or older and NOT a USBC Youth Bowler
    2. NO-TAP Leagues do NOT qualify
    3. Your League must bowl at least three games during one League session.
    4. You MUST have a 2008 - 2009 Fall or Winter Season Book Average from ANY League listed on http://www.bowl.com with at least 36 games. If you do not, you must have at least 24 games in current season with the League you are using for Entry.
  2. You must be a ROSTER (No Substitutes) member of the League being used for the Tournament.
  3. All Tournaments run for an entire week
    1. Tournaments begin on Monday at 12:00 a.m. (PST) and end the following Sunday at 11:59 p.m. (PST).
    2. Entry Fees are due by Monday at 12:00 p.m. (PST) for the Tournament week beginning that day. Entries must be paid for prior to physically bowling.
  4. You must physically bowl during your scheduled League night.
    1. Make-up games, pre bowls, and post bowls will NOT be accepted unless they are physically bowled during the Tournament week.
  5. All Tournaments are three game sets.
    1. All Tournaments are for three games only. If your Bowling League has more than three games, then the first three games will be used towards the Tournament.
  6. Singles Tournaments
    1. If you are on multiple Leagues, you can enter MULTIPLE times (once per League per week).
    2. We will automatically place you in the correct division upon receiving your scores. The Division you are placed in will be based on your average as outlined in Rule # 11 below.
  7. Doubles Tournaments
    1. If you are on multiple Leagues, you can enter MULTIPLE times (once per League per week). You can use the same League for Doubles as you do for Singles.
    2. You may use yourself as a Doubles Partner if you are in multiple Leagues.
  8. Handicap
    1. The Handicap for all Tournaments is 90% of Highest Entering Average. For example, if you are in the 170 - 189 Division and the Highest Average from all the bowlers entered in the Tournament is 186, then the Handicap will be 90% of 186.
  9. Bonus Pins
    1. Bonus pins apply only to the Singles Tournaments.
    2. For every week that you do not win money in the Tournament itself (not including Brackets, Sidepots or Eliminators), you will receive two additional pins, which will be applied to your next Tournament Entry scores. Once you win money in the Tournament itself, your Bonus pins will be reset to zero.
    3. Your scores MUST be entered in order to receive this incentive and your Recaps and Standings MUST be received. If you have no scores, you will not receive any Bonus pins. If your entry gets disqualified for any reason, you will not receive the Bonus pins.
  10. DEFINITION: Previous Seasons Book Average
    1. You MUST have a 2008 - 2009 Fall or Winter Season Book Average from ANY League listed on http://www.bowl.com with at least 36 games.
    2. If you do not have a 2008 - 2009 Fall or Winter Season Book Average, you must have at least 24 games in current season with the League you are using for Entry.
    3. If you have a Previous Seasons Book Average for the League you are using for entry, then that is what we will use as your Previous Seasons Book Average for the League you are using for Entry.
    4. If you DO NOT have a Previous Seasons Book Average for the League you are using for entry, then we will use the HIGHEST average with at least 36 games from ANY League as your Previous Seasons Book Average for the League you are using for Entry.
  11. Average used for Tournament
    1. We will use your current Bowling League Average for the League you used to enter in determining your Handicap.
    2. If your Previous Seasons Book Average is 10 pins or more than current League Average, then we will use Previous Seasons Book Average in determining your Handicap.
    3. If your League utilizes Previous Seasons Book Average for the first X number of weeks of your League, we reserve the right to rerate your average to the TRUE League Average (Total pins/Total Games).
    4. We reserve the right to rerate your Average based on current bowling ability.
  12. Scores must be posted and information sent to us by Tuesdays at 11:59 p.m. (PST) for the previous weeks Tournament.
    1. If we receive your information after the above stated time, your scores will be disqualified.
    2. It is the bowlers responsibility to ensure the scores, recaps and standings are sent to us before the cut-off time.
  13. Leagues that do not upload to LeagueSecretary.com
    1. You must manually enter your scores and fax in your recaps and standing sheets with the EntryID clearly marked on the fax to 815-301-1857 or 602-445-9359. You may also email a scanned copy of your recaps and standings to angela@nabso.com.
    2. Recaps MUST be signed by both Team Captains. In the event there is not another Team Captain, then the League Secretary must sign in their place.
    3. If you are the League Secretary of the League, we will require a copy of the physical printout of each of the games bowled for you and your Team.
  14. Leagues that upload to LeagueSecretary.com
    1. If you know that your League Secretary uploads your data to LeagueSecretary.com in a timely fashion, then you should not have any problems. HOWEVER, it is suggested that you enter your own scores and fax in your recaps and standings just in case.
    2. It is the bowlers responsibility to ensure that the League Secretary uploads the data before the cut-off time.
    3. If you are the League Secretary of the League, we will require a copy of the physical printout of each of the games bowled for you and your Team.
  15. Scores will be verified with the Bowling Center
    1. Scores for the cash payout winners will be verified with the Bowling Center and/or League Secretary (in some cases BOTH) prior to prize distribution. Other scores will be randomly verified. The bowler is to inform the Center and League Secretary that they are participating in a Virtual Bowling Tournament and that the Center or League Secretary may be called to confirm scores. Should the Center or League Secretary refuse to confirm the scores, the bowlers entry will be disqualified and no refund will be issued.
    2. It is the bowlers responsibility to ensure that the League Secretary uploads the data before the cut-off time.
    3. If you are the League Secretary of the League, we will require a copy of the physical printout of each of the games bowled for you and your Team.
  16. 1:5 Bowlers will cash, rounded down
  17. In the event of a Tie
    1. In the event of a tie, all positions that are involved in the tie will have their allotted amount totaled and split between all the tied entrants. For example, if 2 entrants occupy 3rd place, then the payout will be the sum of 3rd and 4th place divided by two, for each entrant involved in the tie.
  18. In order to receive a payout, you must be willing to provide your Social Security Number
    1. Before you receive a check payout, you must provide your Social Security Number. By law, we must have this in order to issue you a check. Visit our W9 Page for more information.
  19. False Information
    1. Fraud will not be tolerated. Any fraudulent activity will be dealt with accordingly. Any entry fee or prize money will be forfeited. There will be NO REFUND and legal action will be brought up against the bowler/person that committed the fraud.
  20. Once the Tournament starts, you are committed to the Tournament
    1. There are NO REFUNDS once the Tournament starts.
    2. We reserve the right to cancel any Tournament at any time, however, in this event, we will refund all Tournament entries for that specific Tournament.

  21. Other
    1. We reserve the right to refuse entry into the Tournaments.
